GPCOG
The Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) is a regional agency sustained by 25 member-paying cities and towns in Cumberland County. It also works on regional transportation initiatives with Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Biddeford and Arundel in York County.
Coastal Counties Workforce, Inc.
Coastal Counties Workforce, Inc. (CCWI), is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity founded to administer and oversee the delivery of the workforce system’s services for Local Area 4 in Maine. CCWI is the entity (mechanism) working on behalf of the Region’s LWIB and CLEO to ensure their responsibilities under federal workforce development law and federal funding are met. CCWI’s jurisdiction includes Maine’s six coastal counties (York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo and Knox).
Cumberland District Public Health Council
The Cumberland District Public Health Council (CDPHC) was founded in 2006 and is a representative, district-wide body formed in partnership with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) to engage in collaborative planning and decision-making for the delivery of the ten Essential Public Health Services in the Cumberland Public Health District, which covers all of Cumberland County, Maine. The Council’s mission is to promote the health of all our communities by providing information, coordination, collaboration and advocacy.
Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District
This organization's mission is to assist and educate the public to promote stewardship of soil and water resources. They offer public outreach, education and work directly with various lake associations, municipalities and other myriad entities in the county to provide hands on planning and execution of best soil and water conservation practices. The district receives funding from the Maine Department of Agriculture and Cumberland County Commissioners that contribute to their annual revenues.
Cumberland County Extension Association
The University of Maine Cooperative Extension directs community education programs to address the changing needs of county residents. It is established and governed by Title 7, Chapter 7 of the Maine Revised Statutes, §191–§195.
