Good afternoon - the state recorded 17 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday against 32 recoveries, dropping the "active" case count in Maine to 412. Cumberland County recorded five new cases against 19 recoveries, dropping the active case count to 198 - the first time the County's known active case count has dropped below that level since the beginning of May. And it's important to note, at the beginning of May the case counts were most likely heavily underrepresented, because the state's testing capacity hadn't been built up through the partnership with IDEXX yet.
However, another Cumberland County resident has died of COVID-19 - bringing the total number of people from our county who have died of this virus to 69, and 124 statewide in less than five months.
Hospitalizations, ICU bed and ventilator use remain low statewide.
