Video Intern
Grant worked as a videographer intern with CCEMA for 3 months, documenting training, exercise, and social media videos. Grant applied the skills he acquired through Southern Maine Community College and a wide variety of experiences. He still does occasional freelance work for CCEMA now that his internship has ended. Most recently, he recorded and edited footage of the Casco Bay Emergency Response Group Exercise in August 2021. Check out our YouTube page to view some of Grant's work!
Chelsea
Emergency Management Intern
Chelsea completed two internships with CCEMA, totaling seven months! In her first internship, Chelsea created social media content, contributed to the draft 2022 Cumberland County Hazard Mitigation Plan, created a menu of CCEMA's deployable resources for county partners, and more! During her second internship, she worked with a municipality on their Emergency Operations Plan and conducted the county's first ever formal Capabilities Assessment and Gap Analysis (CAGA). In the CAGA process, Chelsea chose hazards from the county Threat and Hazard and Identification and Risk Assessment to use as scenarios in three Tabletop Exercises, which she facilitated at different locations around Cumberland County. At those exercises, Chelsea engaged over 40 different agencies, including the American Red Cross, Town/City Managers, Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS personnel, Maine Information Analysis Center, Maine Medical Center, and the FBI. After completing the exercises, she created an After-Action Report, which analyzes the current capabilities and gaps of Cumberland County. Chelsea is now the Training and Exercise Coordinator at CCEMA and will use these materials she created to inform the Multi-Year Training and Exercise Plan for the county.
Sophie
Public Outreach Intern
During Sophie's internship, she was responsible for creating and scheduling our social media content. She was also heavily involved in our public outreach efforts, designing games and flyers to provide to the public. Sophie assisted several municipalities with their outreach activities by creating preparedness flyers tailored to specific towns.
