GUIDELINES FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE


  • The agency and nature of work MUST be approved by the Diversion Clerk or Coordinator prior to beginning your hours.
  • Proof of Community Service must be submitted to the Office of the District Attorney at least 7 days prior to your court date or you must report to court.
  • Community Service CAN NOT be performed with any online agency.
  • Community Service MUST be completed with a nonprofit organization (church, soup kitchen, food pantry, town office, etc.)
  • The agency MUST be informed that the community services is in fulfillment of a court order.
  • You are required to notify the agency of the charge against you.
  • Your community service CAN NOT involve direct contact with or supervision of children, unless specifically requested by the assigned Assistant District Attorney.
  • You MUST not be currently affiliated with the selected agency.
  • You MUST provide the name and contact information of the person supervising the hours to the Diversion Clerk prior to beginning your hours.
  • Any agency on the community service list is considered pre-approved and does not require additional approval.
  • We suggest that you maintain a log book during the commission of your hours having a supervisor sign off of them prior to leaving for the day.
  • You MUST provide a letter (on agency letterhead) from your supervisor, addressed to our office, accounting for your hours in order to receive credit for your community service.
