Representation at the State House and in Congress
The Director of Public Affairs is Cumberland County’s registered Maine lobbyist and Congressional liaison. He serves as the advocate for Cumberland County, its government and the region on matters regarding public policy at the state and federal levels, and as a resource for lawmakers on local issues. He also interacts with state and federal agencies on behalf of the County whenever necessary.
The Director works closely with the Maine County Commissioners Association to align Cumberland County’s resources with the needs of counties across the state whenever possible, and also works directly with communities within the County borders to identify policies that the region has a special interest in advocating on collectively.
This page will be updated regularly with education materials, committee testimony and other supportive documents as issues emerge at the state and federal levels.
