John "Jack" O'Brien announced today that he will retire from public service at the end of 2016. O’Brien serves as the Cumberland County Register of Probate, a post he has held for the past seven years.

First elected as Cumberland County's Register of Deeds in January 1993, and later as its Register of Probate in January 2009, O’Brien has served our county's citizens for over 20 years.

“I am honored to have been allowed to lead two of the county government's most important offices and privileged to have worked with a talented, highly capable and dedicated staff,” O’Brien said. “It is with an abiding sense of pride and accomplishment that I now choose to bring to a close my tenure as Probate Register.”
