Cumberland County Probate Office Now Accepting US Passport Applications

The Office of the Cumberland County Register of Probate is pleased to announce our recent designation as a US Passport Acceptance Facility.

“Cumberland County is honored to receive designation as a passport acceptance facility,” Register of Probate Nadeen Daniels said.

Passport applications will be accepted in the Probate Office, Room 107 of the Cumberland County Government Center, 142 Federal Street, Portland, beginning Monday, November 13, 2017. Passport applications will be accepted weekdays (excluding holidays) Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. The Probate Office will also offer passport photo services.

“An appointment is not required at this time; however, we encourage you to call ahead,” Daniels said. “The Cumberland County Probate Office looks forward to providing this vital service to our customers and general public.”

For Americans traveling outside the United States, the US Passport is the only singular document recognized around the world, and that serves as both identification and proof of US citizenship.

The National Passport Information Center (NPIC) is available to assist the public via phone or email to provide information about the passport process, or to assist with a customer’s in-process passport application.

Also serving US citizens are approximately 7,300 conveniently located passport acceptance facilities nationwide. The vast majority of customers who apply for a passport do so in-person at a passport acceptance facility near where they live or work. It is through these facilities and their passport acceptance agents, that the Department of State is able to provide quality service to their customers most efficiently and effectively.

Please visit the Probate Office’s webpage for further passport application information. General travel and passport information regarding application forms, supporting documents and fees can be found by visiting the US Department of State’s Passport Services official website
